African Masks x Ukiyoe
These days when nationalism is a growing trend, and acts of racism and intolerance are coming to the fore in conversations (no longer as hidden as they used to be), we are captured by this African Masks x Ukiyoe series by Jamaican digital artist, Idris Veitch.
In these works, Idris merges two rich cultures together in a simple but stunning collage characterized distinctly by its unexpected harmony. They fit so well - the African masks associated with masquerades and local gods, and the unique ancient art style of Japan which tell their stories and folklores.
This just makes us wonder why we are all so intolerant when Idris clearly shows just how well we can work together despite our traditional and cultural differences.
