Dancing with Tunji Adeniyi-Jones

Sometimes you see an art piece that is simply fascinating. You stare and expect the lines to be straight but they curve; expect them to fit your image of what the world is, but they’re distorted. But more than that, there is beauty in this distortion and in this unexpected viewpoint. And as you continue to stare, you can see the joy and celebration of life through dance and movement. That’s the feeling that British-Nigerian artist, Tunji Adeniyi-Jones, evokes through his works.

Adeniyi-Jones takes inspiration from the physical, but also from the spiritual and religious stories from his Yoruba heritage. He adds even more mystery to each piece by focusing on a central colour, adding depth with only shades of the same hues; it makes you want to stare even more.

But don’t take our word for it - what do you think?
