Diversity and Identity by Reyna Noriega

Reyna Noriega is an American artist of Afro-Latina heritage, specifically of Dominican and Bahamian descent. And we love how her multicultural background strongly influences her work, which often celebrates diversity and cultural identity. Reyna’s art is a mash of beautiful, bright colors and lines, featuring Black women of all shades. In making most of her portraits faceless, Reyna encourages us to imagine ourselves as the powerful and confident women she illustrates.

She also often includes natural elements like flowers and plants in her pieces, adding to the feeling of growth and positivity in her art. Plus, Reyna’s art feels vulnerable and personal - unsurprising as she draws from her own experiences to bring her art to life.
