Karo Akpokiere's Lagos

Nigerian pop artist, Karo Akpokiere, is inspired by the pop culture and general quirks of life in Lagos. This comes through in so many of his projects, and especially so in his Lagos Drawing series.

Akpokiere’s illustrations visualise the unique experiences and observations of Lagosians. Like in this series - a poster shows a ‘prophet’ selling assurances for visas - something many Nigerians are constantly trying to get; while another shows a local barbershop poster with ridiculously funny haircut names that Nigerian can relate to.
