Lies and Pills by Lafurie

The only way to describe this series by Congolese photographer Prisca Munkeni (aka Lafurie) is ‘raw’. Her Lies and Pills (2019/2020) photo series is a painfully beautiful photomontage and collage that pulls at your heart.

Pain, strive, and just trying real hard to get past personal and inflicted agony is what this series is yelling to us. You can see the subjects have been broken down…but they’ve been patched up too. Bandages abound as they try to put themselves back together to face the world again, and not just survive, but thrive.
