Real Black History by Dave McClinton

Dave McClinton is an American artist with some of the most powerful style of contemporary art you’ll come across. His distinct style of portraiture serves as a story which dives into the history of African-American slavery. This is a topic many shy away from; but Dave makes it a core part of his work, putting it front and centre of each piece.

His artistic process is also reminiscent of all the different bits of history that shape Black Americans. He takes a myriad of images to create new faces and new textures. One of his signature pieces are negro informational texts like signs and contract cuttings of sold slaves. He transposes these into his images seamlessly. Again, putting this issue in our faces!
