Christella Bijou's African Women
There’s only one thing to be said about Rwandan illustrator, Christella Bijou’s works - it’s an explosive celebration of the African woman! She uses the colors of the rainbow in such harmony that at first, you don’t realize just how many hues are in each piece. They end up giving off a controlled but somehow joyful and hopeful impression.
Each illustration features a lone woman settled in her own space, sometimes being introspective but always demanding our attention. But she’s not really alone - she’s surrounded by flowers, plants and chirpy nimble birds depicting how she’s always in bloom, always growing, and always beautifully in balance.
