Strength of Womanhood by Cristina Martinez
Cristina Martinez is an American visual artist whose work is deeply rooted in her experiences as a Black and Mexican woman. Her art blends intricate patterns that explore the strength and power that is womanhood of color.
Cristina uses her paintings to elicit a sense of connectedness amongst women - showing that each person is not alone in the issues that they face and overcome. Stemming from this, several of her portraits feature a sense of growth and prosperity, represented as the necks of the women. Other aspects of nature, like clouds, sunlight and stylishly placed florals, also instil a sense of hope to viewers.
