Black Anime by Cedric Joseph

Artist, Cedric Joseph, brings fascinating illustrations of Black anime characters to life. His passion for the art and animation form that is very much Japanese culture is all over his work - and how he re-imagines this to conjure character designs that are both Japanese inspired but urban and Black is refreshing.

Each character’s portrait is draped in hoodies and other urban apparel that can only be a celebration of Black American culture. But each of them pay homage to Japanese anime in the essence of the weapons they casually carry - ready at a moments notice to protect their hood.
