Tradition and Divinity With Denzel Muhumuza
Ugandan artist, Denzel Muhumuza, is a gift that keeps on giving. The digital artist continues to create his intricate, spiritual worlds, weaving ethereal planes that speak to African deities and tradition, but also to afrofuturistic worlds that celebrate divinity. We get these feelings consistently across each one of his creations.
In his most recent works, he ingeniously celebrates this African tradition we mentioned using a raffia woven basket - an apt object that makes everyone (even the unaware) think of Africa. The basket is central in these works as a backdrop, the sun, and even as an earthen throne.
