Visible Women by Aisha Mohamed
British Somali artist, Aisha Mohamed, has repeatedly talked about how she uses her work to make invisible women visible. This goal shines through in every single digital collage she creates. It’s no surprise then, that her work explores themes around making Black women visible, and giving them the celebration and acknowledgement that they deserve, but that is missing everywhere else.
Aisha also combines elements of Afrofuturism in several of her digital collages - from an introspective woman contemplating the cosmos to a woman in the middle of a world up in flames. Essentially, playing with the theme of Black women rising above and influencing the far future.
