The Spirit of Home by Emma Prempeh

British artist, Emma Prempeh, draws on her Ghanaian and Vincentian ancestry to describe the spirit of home in her paintings. She doubles down on a black tone which permeates every part of her creations. The dark evokes feelings of warmth, but might even potentially represent the subconscious memories that anyone (and their children) who leaves home has.

Emma’s paintings typically feature intimate indoor snapshots, filled with loved ones who are totally at home in the space and are making connections with each other or even simply with themselves.
