Love, Peace and Deceit by Adenuga Opeyemi

Nigerian artist, Adenuga John Opeyemi (a.k.a. Hopex John), wields magic with charcoal, bringing to life portraits that look like photographs even upon inspection! His hyper-realistic art is a testament to raw talent (Adenuga is self-taught), surreal imagination and unending patience.

His series, ‘Love, Peace and Deceit’ also feature acrylic in vivid colours that stand out on their own but also manage to heighten the blacks and whites of his signature acrylic portraits. Each hyper-realistic woman in the portraits bursts out of these vibrant backgrounds, unbothered by the restraints and instead, chasing peace, happiness, and love.
